APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
- Enrolled as a current UCI undergraduate student
- Completion of UCI’s Bio199 prerequisites
- One-year commitment including summer, winter, and spring breaks
- Health Insurance
- Means of reliable transportation: associates must commute to the UCI Medical Center in Orange for each shift.
TIME COMMITMENT
All associates:
- Two four-hour shifts per week
- One year commitment
- Weekly research meetings every Tuesday from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
- Minimum 3 Bio199 units
Other program commitments:
- Liaisonship positions
- Coordinating positions
- Maximum 5 Bio199 units
Training will take place in the summer after the application cycle ends. Summer attendance is necessary and required.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Conduct clinical research in a busy emergency department
- Learn research methodology and data collection
- Participate in grant writing and manuscript preparation
- Present at regional and national conferences
- Work directly with emergency medicine faculty
- Gain hands-on clinical research experience
- Earn academic credit

- Contribute to cutting-edge medical research
EVALUATION AND GRADING
UC Irvine Bio199 course grade is based on:
- Attendance
- Participation
- Professionalism
- Fulfillment of liaison duties, if applicable
APPLICATION
Each year, the EMRAP application cycle will open the first Monday after winter break and closes on the last Sunday of January at 11:59PM. EMRAP accepts up to 25 undergraduate students per quarter.
2025 – 2026 Cohort Applications:
For the 2025-2026 cohort, applications will open on January 6th, 2025, and close on January 26th, 2025. Responses sent before this date will not be accepted for evaluation. You may complete your application at any time throughout this timeline and we will contact you directly upon reviewing your application.

1/26: Application Closes
Any applications submitted past 1/26 at 11:59 will not be considered.
2/07: Meet and Greet Invitations
Applicants will be invited to join us in a research meeting. Two options from 4pm-5pm are available for atendees: 2/11 and 2/18.
2/24: Interviews Round 1 Invitations
Interviews will be held from 2/27 – 3/6 in person.
3/8: Interviews Round 2 Invitations
Interviews will be held 3/10-3/14 over Zoom with the program director.
